Hitachi drives have set the standard in the CD-ROM industry. No one has sold more CD-ROM drives than Hitachi, and for good reason.
The desktop CD-ROM drive, model CDR-1503S, combines good performance with outstanding reliability. This drive is a workhorse.
The half height internal drive, model CDR-3500, has similar reliability characteristics, in a package that fits in a standard half height floppy disc drive bay. Even though the specs on the 3500 are the same as the 1503S, tests indicate that the 3500 is significantly faster. The 3500 also uses a disc caddy that allows you to mount the drive in a vertical orientation in your PC.
Both drives use a special half-length interface card to connect to your PC. They both also have built-in stereo audio capability with a front panel audio adjustment control.
